this mix is something that's been rolling around and percolating in my head for almost a year, sometimes keeping me up at night, and i finally got it finalized and recorded. the music style relies heavily on various styles of jazz, incorporating traditional instrumentation such as piano, upright bass, saxophone, etc, and the progression of the mix is meant to loosely follow the evolution of the genre. it starts out very deep and slow, in homage to early tribal rhythm, builds gradually while blending in some mid-to-late 1900's jazz styles, and finally building itself into full-on, melodic techno and house music that's just showing off with all the jazz that's still running through it strongly.

the whole thing built on a backbone of beats, naturally. :)
