Samuel Johnson
Though he would be considered a newbie to the DJ scene, Samuel Johnson has been involved with house music for the last eight years. He has gone from a high school weekend warrior to a man who has developed a serious passion for the music. I believe it was inevitable that Sam would reach this point, because music was in his blood and his soul, moving through his veins, and flowing out of him with each word he has spoken.
Sam has been known many times to say that it all started “In the back of a friends box Chevy”, but his interest in music started at an early age and was cultivated during his middle school years. At the time, he was a classically trained cellist who had, in the past, dabbled in playing other musical instruments like viola, violin, bass, guitar trumpet, tenor sax, baritone sax, piano, drums, and clarinet. Since 6th grade, it was the cello he chose to stick with, because he loved the range of the instrument and purity of the sound. Sam became an accomplished cellist before reaching high school. He was awarded several Superior ratings at for solo, ensemble performances during his middle school years. He was also awarded medals for achieving all county and continued this trend throughout high school. The school orchestra he played with then also was continuously rated as a Superior group. He was a section leader for the latter 3 of the 4 years he spent in his high school orchestra. This was all done while simultaneously playing other instruments on the side with his high school band, and his own personal rock band.
But, as he said before, this all started in the back of a friends box Chevy, while listening to Paul Oakenfold’s Tranceport.
Since then Samuel has been grinding it out on the underground DJ scene in central Florida. He has played many parties and raves, but has never had his own residency or been recognized as a fixture in the house music scene. From the looks of things, that all may be changing soon.
